 Open shot blasting is a process of surface preparation using abrasive material. Material is blasted at the surface at high pressure removing dirt, grime, old coatings and creating a profiled surface to allow for bonding.

Shot blasting is necessary;
o If a new coating is to be applied and there is an existing coating already on the surface.
o When a surface is too smooth and needs a profile to create a better bond.
o For Cleaning.
o For the removal of rust and create a profile on steel before painting.
