Surface Preparation

Adrian Queally Ltd are experts in surface preparation and can suggest and complete the correct preparation for the surface, circumstances and products.

High pressure washing is needed to remove debris and contaminates from the reservoir. Depending on the circumstances other preparation methods may also be needed including; Diamond Grinding, Hydro-Demolition, Open shot blasting and concrete breakouts.

o Hydro-blasting is vibration-free meaning it does not cause any cracking or weakening in the concrete or structure. It also does not have any effect on post tensioned concrete thanks to no vibrations.
o Ultra-high pressure washing (UHP) is dust free and very little noise is produced compared to traditional methods
o Localised sections of concrete can be removed without damaging the steel rebar within the concrete.
o Quicker, less disruptive and more accurate than traditional demolition or break out methods

 Yes, high pressure washing is necessary before applying any coating to a surface, unless another mechanical preparation method has been advised by manufacturer. High pressure washing allows for the removal of grime, scum and any other loose material on the surface while also creating a slight profile surface which allows an optimal base for bonding.
